Het Nederlands Kanker Instituut - Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (NKI-AVL) strives for ‘a cure for every cancer and excellent care for every patient’. In the consultation room, this provides rapid access to rich information and decision support, and in research, rapid access to large and high-quality datasets for developing, among other things, AI applications. Why the AVL? At Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, more than 3200 employees work together on the best oncological care and innovative research. Robust and scalable Cloud infrastructure plays a central role in this: from the secure processing and storage of our data to providing computing power for the latest AI models. Within Digital Oncology, together with implementation partner Kaiko, we are developing a Data Lakehouse in which all medical data is stored centrally. This forms the basis for our digital transformation and supports both care and research. Azure and Databricks play a crucial role in this. The Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AVL) is looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer who plays a key role in the digital transformation of oncological care and research. As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will contribute directly to our aforementioned mission: "A cure for every cancer and excellent care for every patient." Your role as a Cloud Platform Engineer As a Cloud / Platform Engineer, you will work within the Cloud Competence Center (CCC) of the ICT cluster (I&A) on the further development of the (public) Cloud infrastructure and the Data+AI Platform. You will contribute to the technical expansion for the entire institute to accelerate/improve care and research. You will work in an agile team where you develop and manage the complete Cloud environment of the institute. What will you do? You develop and manage our core cloud infrastructure.
You work closely with the Data Engineers and AI developers to further develop and manage the various platforms (Kubernetes, Databricks).
Developing and managing Infrastructure-as-Code (terraform), Azure Devops pipelines.
We are looking for a colleague who gets energy from technical challenges and is eager to commit to care and research. You recognize yourself in the following: At least an IT-related HBO / WO thinking level
At least 3 years of work experience with Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.)
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (for example Terraform, Bicep)
Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, etc.
Knowledge of network, security, and system administration concepts
Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub, Azure DevOps)
Problem-solving ability
Motivated and self-directed
You communicate technically with IT colleagues, suppliers, and employees and possess excellent command of the English language.
Nice to have: Knowledge of/experience with containerization (e.g. Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes)
Microsoft Azure certification (for example AZ-104)
Experience with data tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Dagster, etc. What do we offer you? The basis for your employment conditions is in accordance with the Cao Ziekenhuizen. You will receive from us: A one-year contract for 36 hours per week, with a view to a permanent contract.
A gross monthly salary between € 3.903,00 and € 5.503,00 based on a 36-hour work week, corresponding to FWG 55 and depending on your experience.
144 vacation hours and 57 hours of Personal Life Phase Budget, with full-time employment.
8.33% annual holiday allowance and a fixed year-end bonus of 8.33%.
A travel allowance of € 0.23 per km.
