Responsibilities:

Ensure articulation and development of the Finance departmental strategy and ensure alignment with the Bank’s business goals, objectives and corporate strategy. Identify risks and long-term financial implications of intended business initiatives/project(s) and advise the Board and other management committees accordingly. Authorise expenditure/transactions in line with the bank's approved authority limits. Coordinate development and implementation of the Bank’s corporate budget and allocation of financial resources. Manage the interface between the bank and external auditors/regulators to ensure the bank's financial interest is protected. Evolve and implement robust cost management strategies to monitor and control costs Bank-wide. Facilitate/coordinate all Banking components to reach common performance objectives. Oversee data and information management, including implementation of information systems, business intelligence and data mining, to ensure delivery of a robust performance management system. Periodically review key finance activities and performance reports, and take appropriate action(s) to ensure the bank's business objectives are achieved. Lead formulation of new finance policies and regulations; enforce and ensure compliance with financial policies. Keep abreast of changes/amendments in relevant regulatory provisions and advise on major areas impacting the bank's operations. Ensure submission of periodic management reports on the activities of the Bank to the Board and Management for decision-making. Provide expertise on technical issues relating to the interpretation of accounting, tax and regulatory provisions. Review periodic statutory returns to regulatory and tax authorities to ensure completeness and accuracy. Monitor and evaluate the impact of external environmental factors on the bank's business, long-term initiatives and provide strategies to sustain the Bank’s business. Establish sources of information and contacts as well as network with peers (both internal and external) to stay abreast of developments in the industry in order to assess/re-assess the department activities. Act on behalf of, and perform other duties as assigned by the MD or Board of Directors.

Requirements:

Hands on experience in financial planning and analysis. Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including in-depth understanding of the Nigerian tax system and financial reporting standards. Good understanding of the Nigerian mortgage sector and knowledge of mortgage banking. Strong business acumen, maturity and tact, including the ability to relate with the highest levels of management of financial institutions and financiers. Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and a high level of integrity. Strong interpersonal, emotional intelligence and negotiation skills. Proven capability to interpret financial statement and apply a broad perspective in summarising results. Strong leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written communication skills Good business presentation skills. Ability to multi task and function effectively under pressure. Excellent appreciation and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools .

Key Performance Indicators:

Accuracy and timely delivery of financial reports. Delivery, efficiency and consistency of the Bank’s Performance Management System (MIS). Quality of financial and strategic advice provided. Number of non-compliance cases raised by regulatory bodies. Number of fraud/irregularities detected/prevented and undetected

Internal customer satisfaction levels. Timely conduct of call-overs/reviews/reconciliations
