Tasks
As a chemist you will use state-of-the-art analytical techniques to assess food safety risk on foodstuffs. Your tasks will include: Analysing pesticide residues and contaminants in (mainly) food samples by liquid or gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS). For example, multi-residue (QuEChERS) methods, highly polar pesticides (QUPPE), mycotoxins, plant growth regulators, and many more. Evaluating samples according to customer requests (considering their specifications) and legal requirements (EU legislation standards). Applying standard operating procedures (SOPs) according to our ISO:17025 quality management system and maintaining laboratory documentation. Delivering results in a set timeframe (for example with 1-3 days turnaround time) in collaboration with the rest of the production team. Supporting our quality control measures; following and reviewing internal processes, calibrating equipment, keeping material logs, updating quality control cards, and participating in proficiency tests, among others. Performing routine and preventative maintenance for analytical instrumentation as well as occasional troubleshooting to ensure good performance of analysis and timely delivery of results. Participating in method improvements, development, and validation. For example, including new substances or optimising method parameters for lower LOQs. Collaborate with external subcontractors (technical customer service or repair staff) and suppliers where needed (English or German). Training of new employees, students or interns when needed.
