Legal Counsel (Asset Management)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join the in-house legal team of a leading Asia-focused asset manager.

This role would suit a lawyer with a background in derivatives, banking & finance, capital markets, investment funds or financial services who is looking to build broader commercial and in-house experience.

Responsibilities:

• Support a broad range of financial markets and commercial documentation, with a particular focus on derivatives.
• Negotiate and manage agreements with banks, brokers, counterparties and other external stakeholders.
• Advise internal teams across trading, investment, risk and operations on legal and commercial considerations.
• Support fund, asset management and general commercial documentation.
• Work alongside external counsel on more complex or jurisdiction-specific matters.
• Help enhance legal processes, templates and playbooks, including the use of AI and legal technology.

Requirements:

• Around 2 years of relevant legal, financial markets or commercial contracting experience.
• Experience in ISDA/derivatives documentation would be highly advantageous.
• Candidates currently in private practice with relevant Banking & Finance, Derivatives, Capital Markets, Investment Funds or Financial Services experience are encouraged to apply.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Commercially minded, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• An interest in using technology and AI to improve legal processes and efficiency.
