Are you an ERP sales and marketing professional who enjoys managing people, organising sales activity and helping teams succeed?

An established ERP vendor is looking for a Sales and Marketing Manager to manage its four-person telesales and lead generation team, coordinate an experienced team of eight new business salespeople and account managers, and take ownership of its marketing strategy and budget.

This is a hands-on management role with a clear commercial purpose: generate quality, qualified leads and ensure the sales team has the information, organisation and support to follow them through.

People management and lead generation

You will provide day-to-day direction for four telesales and lead generation staff, helping them organise their activity and develop their approach to prospecting and qualification.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and supporting the telesales and lead generation team.
  • Coordinating prospecting, cold calling and follow-up activity.
  • Helping the team focus on opportunities that fit the business.
  • Overseeing the screening and qualification of incoming enquiries.
  • Ensuring qualified leads are passed to the right sales colleagues with a clear handover.

Sales management and coordination

You will provide light-touch management and practical support for eight experienced new business salespeople and account managers. They are a successful, long-serving team, so your ability to build relationships and earn their confidence will be essential.

You will:

  • Check in regularly on leads, follow-up activity and pipeline progress.
  • Keep sales information organised and ensure enquiries receive appropriate attention.
  • Coordinate meetings, holidays and team availability.
  • Support communication between lead generation, marketing and sales.
  • Occasionally join colleagues at client meetings or hospitality events, typically once every month or two.

The emphasis is on organisation, coordination and supporting an experienced team. Formal sales performance management, salary negotiations and sales motivation remain with the Managing Director.

Marketing ownership

Alongside your management responsibilities, you will own the marketing strategy, planning and budget, with autonomy over how the money is spent.

You will oversee the strategy and spend on Google PPC, SEO, social media and promotional activity, manage external providers, and organise showcase events, user groups and exhibitions such as Smart Factory. Your focus will be on activity that creates qualified opportunities for the sales team.

About you

You will bring:

  • A strong background in ERP sales and marketing.
  • Experience managing SDRs, telesales or lead generation staff.
  • A practical, supportive approach to people management.
  • Confidence working with experienced salespeople and account managers.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to keep several teams and activities moving.
  • A stable employment history and an interest in building a long-term career.

An established business with a long-term outlook
