Part-Time Accounts & Bookkeeping Administrator

Location: Clifton, Bristol Hours: Approximately 5 hours per week, flexible working pattern Employment Type: PAYE or Self-Employed

The Role

On behalf of our client we are seeking an experienced and reliable Part-Time Accounts & Bookkeeping Administrator to provide support with their day-to-day financial administration.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a few hours of flexible work each week, perhaps alongside other bookkeeping clients or existing commitments.

Working closely with the business owner, you will take responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth running of the company's bookkeeping activities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickFile accounting software.
  • Processing and recording sales and purchase invoices.
  • Managing sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Monitoring outstanding customer invoices and following up on overdue payments.
  • Recording customer payments and allocating them correctly.
  • Checking supplier invoices and maintaining accurate supplier records.
  • Reconciling transactions using financial records and statements provided, without direct access to business bank accounts.
  • Ensuring income and expenditure are accurately recorded and categorised.
  • Assisting with VAT records and preparing information for VAT returns where required.
  • Liaising with external accountants and providing information for year-end accounts.
  • Producing basic financial reports and summaries for the business owner.
  • Maintaining organised financial records and supporting general accounts administration.

The Person

We are looking for someone who is organised, trustworthy and confident working independently.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounts administration.
  • Experience using QuickFile, or the confidence to learn a new accounting system quickly.
  • A good understanding of sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Experience with invoicing, reconciliations and credit control.
  • Good numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • A working knowledge of VAT and general bookkeeping procedures.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
  • A friendly, professional and reliable approach.
  • An AAT qualification would be beneficial but is not essential, as practical bookkeeping experience is equally valued.

Working Arrangements

This is a part-time position offering approximately 5 hours per week, with flexibility around the working pattern.

The business is happy to consider someone working on either a PAYE or self-employed basis, depending on individual circumstances and the arrangement agreed.

This opportunity could particularly suit an experienced bookkeeper looking to supplement their existing workload or someone seeking a small, regular part-time commitment.
