About the role
As Financial Controller, you will lead albo's Accounting and FP&A teams, reporting directly to the CFO. You will own the accuracy and integrity of the group's financial results, financial regulatory reporting and internal controls. This is a senior, hands-on role combining technical review, team leadership and sound business judgment in a regulated fintech environment.
What you’ll be doing at albo:
Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual close, delivering the monthly close by D+10. Review balance sheet, P&L and cash flow reporting, resolve material reconciliation issues and ensure accounting actuals align with FP&A before management reporting. Ensure entity financial statements follow applicable Mexican NIF and CNBV accounting criteria, and own consolidated IFRS reporting for the group.
Oversee high-volume reconciliations across operational systems, banks and the ledger, including payment settlements and loan portfolios. Review lending accounting with Accounting, Risks and Operations, covering interest and fees, IFRS 9 expected credit losses, write-offs and recoveries.
Oversee timely and accurate financial regulatory reporting to CNBV and Banco de México, in partnership with Compliance, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements for each regulated entity, including capital requirements and safeguarding and reconciliation of client funds.
Oversee the Head of Accounting and Tax in delivering SAT filings and payments, tax reconciliations and supporting documentation. Review material tax exposures and coordinate transfer pricing and cross-border matters with specialist advisers.
Lead coordination of external audits across Mexico and the UK, working with the Head of Accounting and Tax to ensure audit readiness and timely resolution of findings. Review group consolidation, intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translation, and coordinate UK statutory accounts and filing with Legal and advisers.
Oversee the annual budget and rolling forecasts, reviewing assumptions and timely variance analysis. Assess profitability and unit economics by product and segment, linking operational drivers to revenue, costs and cash flow to support business decisions.
Support the CFO with financial models, board reporting, investor materials and financial information for lenders. Review liquidity forecasts and monitor financial covenants with Treasury, escalating risks and potential breaches promptly.
Strengthen financial controls, close processes and reporting through NetSuite, automation and continuous improvement. Ensure clear ownership, review evidence and traceability from source data to financial reports, and track corrective actions to completion.
Advise teams across albo on accounting, tax and financial matters, reviewing new products, partnerships and funding arrangements with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal and Compliance.
