Senior Process Simulation Engineer
Role overview
We are looking for a senior simulation engineer who can take ownership of project execution, represent the team in front of clients, guide junior engineers, and deliver high-quality simulation work independently.
The role focuses primarily on operator training simulator (OTS) projects, with opportunities to expand into digital twin and monitoring systems solutions.
Key responsibilities
Execute operator training simulator (OTS) projects from kick-off to client acceptance, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Participate in kick-off meetings (KoM), client technical discussions, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site acceptance tests (SAT).
Develop and validate steady-state and dynamic simulation models for process systems.
Integrate distributed control systems (DCS) including Emerson DeltaV, Foxboro/Schneider Electric, Yokogawa, Siemens, and ABB.
Build control emulation environments and implement PLC logic and cause & effect diagrams.
Perform thermodynamic and dynamic analyses, engineering calculations, and data reconciliation.
Configure and support OTS architectures and related simulation environments.
Mentor and support junior engineers on technical activities and project execution.
Provide technical input and effort estimations for proposals and bids when required.
Review engineering deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemical or petrochemical engineering.
Minimum 6 years of experience in process simulation, OTS configuration, or process plant operations.
Experience within oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, power, or water treatment industries.
Hands-on experience with one or more simulation platforms such as:
AVEVA Dynamic Simulation (Dynsim)
AVEVA Process Simulation
Aspen HYSYS
Aspen Plus/Aspen Dynamics
Honeywell UniSim
Equivalent simulation software
Strong understanding of P&IDs, PFDs, control narratives, and process documentation.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide teams and work independently.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Fluent English language skills.
Willingness to travel and work on international assignments.
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge of advanced process control (APC) and real-time optimization (RTO).
Familiarity with digital twin solutions, unified engineering, and asset management systems.
Exposure to monitoring systems such as leak detection, performance monitoring, and PEMS.
Understanding of proposal preparation and bidding processes.
