To support Flight Physics Capabilities, Airbus Operations is looking for a

Working Student for Scientific Computing & Machine Learning (d/m/w)

Are you a full-time student (d/m/w) looking for a working student position and want to get to know the work of an AI & ML Developer (d/m/w) for flight physics? Then apply now! We would be happy if you support us in the Flight Physics Capabilities Aerodynamics Modelling Team as a working student (d/m/w) with approx. 18 hours per week!

  • Location: Bremen
  • Start: 01.11.2026
  • Duration: 9 - 12 months (with the possibility of extension)

With us, you will receive a collective agreement salary depending on the activity of at least €19.10 per hour. In addition, there are special payments such as holiday pay.

For our team, we are looking for a dedicated working student (d/m/w) who bridges the gap between classical engineering and cutting-edge data science. In this role, you will support us in making the next generation of aircraft more efficient, sustainable, and intelligent through the use of Scientific Computing and Machine Learning.

You will work at the interface between physics and software development and help translate complex relationships into powerful digital models. If you bring a passion for aviation and deep-tech programming, this is your chance to actively shape the digital transformation of flight physics.

Your location

Bremen is a charming, historic city in northwestern Germany. It is not only one of the greenest cities in the country but also offers wonderful sights, a rich culture, urban flair, and culinary delights. The city is also a great place for coastal lovers, as it is only an hour's drive from the North Sea coast.

Your benefits

  • Attractive remuneration and a balanced work-life balance with an 18-hour week (flextime).
  • Opportunity to travel within Germany (e.g., team events) after consultation with the department.
  • International environment with the opportunity to make contacts all over the world.
  • Work with modern/diverse technologies.
  • At Airbus, we see you as a full team member; you haven't been hired to make coffee, but rather you are in close exchange with interfaces and are part of our weekly team rounds.
  • Opportunity to participate in the Generation Airbus Community to expand your own network.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Aerospace Surrogate Modeling: Support in the development and implementation of Reduced Order Models (ROMs) and surrogate models for applications in aerodynamics and aerospace.
  • Software Engineering: Participation in internal Python libraries for technical calculations and Machine Learning. Here, you will learn and apply best practices to write clean, reusable, and testable code.
  • MLOps & Automation: Assistance in building and maintaining MLOps tools and scripts to simplify our researchers' workflows and optimize scientific pipelines.
  • Documentation: Support in creating clear, user-friendly documentation and tutorials for our toolchains in the fields of Engineering and Data Science.

Required knowledge and qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time student (d/m/w) in the field of Aerospace Engineering, Computational Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a comparable course of study.
  • Basic understanding of numerical methods, Scientific Computing, and basic concepts of Machine Learning.
  • Good programming skills in Python. Initial experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch) is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn: You don't have to be an expert in Software Engineering or MLOps yet! We are looking for someone with a great interest in bridging the gap between classical aerospace and modern software practices – we will help you get to the next level.
  • Initial experience with version control (e.g., Git) is helpful.
  • Interest in High-Performance Computing (HPC) or cloud technologies is a plus.
  • Fluent English skills, both written and spoken.
