In the "Thermal Engineering and Space Environment Germany" department in Immenstaad, a position as "Space Physics and Thermal Analyst" (d/m/w) is to be filled.
In this role, you will support engineering in the field of Thermal and Space Environment. The role is a mix of supporting project management, thermal and Space Physics topics, and corresponding modeling. You will be involved in performing thermal and Space Physics analyses, thermal tests on spacecraft, payloads, instruments, mechanisms, and other space equipment.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Performing thermal analyses for satellites, spacecraft, payloads, instruments, and mechanisms
- Performing analyses in the field of Space Physics, for example re-entry calculations and plume calculations
- Performing plausibility checks and manual calculations to validate analysis results
- Supporting the development of a thermal control system, its subsystems, and components
- Simulation and monitoring of thermal tests, such as thermal-vacuum and thermal-balance tests, of satellites, spacecraft, and their components
- Knowledge of cost management (e.g., budget, risk, and schedule) for thermal activities
- Application of software packages SYSTEMA/Thermica, Thermal Desktop, ESA-DRAMA
- Documentation of all activities, mathematical models, analysis, and test results
- Contribution to improvements as well as R&D and R&T studies in the field of Thermal Engineering
** Required Knowledge and Qualifications
- University degree (Master/Diploma) in engineering sciences or similar qualification
- Knowledge of conductive, convective, and radiative heat transfer processes
- Sound knowledge in the application of SYSTEMA/Thermica and Thermal Desktop is necessary
- Sound knowledge in a CFD tool (e.g., TAU, Star-CCM+), ESA-DRAMA, and Open FOAM is necessary
- Knowledge of the programming language PYTHON is advantageous
- Understanding of thermal material properties
- Understanding of orbital mechanics and the solar system
- Multidisciplinary mindset with the ability to see and consider the "big picture" (system level) and to work with other technical disciplines that do not belong to the thermal and Space Physics calculation, such as electrical, mechanical, function, PA, QA, and AIT.
- The ability to quickly change roles and responsibilities in a demanding environment
- A proactive attitude with a high degree of independence
- Ability to work in a diverse and decentralized team environment
- Very good English skills for written and oral communication are required.
- Willingness to travel regularly
