LEAD SECURITY ASSISTANT

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the sections' Lead Security Cleark, processing requests for access and entry in support of the installation's security and pass and ID programs. Process various security-related documentation, including vehicle registrations, identification cards, restricted area badges, and controlled forms maintenance.
Major duties
Leads three or more security clerks in the performance of contractor badge office and others section-related duties. Distributes and balances workload in accordance with established directives Processes applications and issues controlled restricted contractors' badges and contractor FMC access badges, temporary vehicle passes to eligible personnel Maintains automated contracted access and electronic programs of controlled and restricted badges issued to eligible personnel performs clerical support. Performs clerical support to ensure efficient office operations. Receives and answers routine telephone inquiries or refers to appropriate staff Maintains controlled forms. maintains control logs for identification cards, and controlled and restricted area badges for maintenace and destruiction of accountable forms in accordance with applicable AF instructions
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, for Clerical and Administrative Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes security principles, regulatory provisions, rules, regulations, directives, DoD suitability criteria, procedures and operations to perform such duties as managing the base Visitor Control Center to support controlling, issuing and accounting for restricted area badges and process a wide variety of standard ID cards, contractor access badges or other forms of base access authorization; general clerical office procedures. OR EDUCATION: Applicant must have successfully four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions
- Knowledge of Pass and Registration security processes and the procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorizations documents, issues badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization
- Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data information: support office and security operations: and produce a variety of documents and reports
- Ability to: plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Ability to orient lower graded employees, distribute/balance work assignments, and monitors work accomplishment PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
