The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Audio-Visual Information Manager and first-level supervisor for the Marketing Directorate (AETC/MK) supporting DAF, with responsibility for the production of a wide variety of products and images for complex physical or digital web-based material, exhibits, and briefings to maintain mutual communication with internal and external publics.

Major duties

Coordinate the design and development of complex, high-level visual information products in collaboration with editors, subject matter experts, public affairs and customers. Create visual materials independently or in conjunction with illustrators, photographers, videographers, or other craftsmen. Explain performance expectations to employees and provide regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Serve as the Visual Information (VI) Manager ensuring AETC Marketing is in compliance with Public Affairs (PA) career field, Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Department of the Air Force (DAF) and Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) policies and procedures. Respond to requests for information, materials, and support; arrange, advise on, and/or provide visual information services for documentation and/or information purposes and/or communication campaigns.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level (or equivalent in other pay systems) in the federal service in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which may have been gained assisting in the support of the production of a wide variety of products and images for complex physical or digital web-based material, exhibits, and briefings to maintain mutual communication with internal and external audiences involving multiple media or individual audio-visual components, principles and techniques of audio-visual design, campaign planning, and marketing. Knowledge of the operations, products, services, needs, and goals of programs and other organizations serviced, and related customers, functions, resources, and users. Skill in methods and procedures for operating a variety of visual information equipment in the production and reproduction of artwork, photos, video, and typography. Skill in incorporating audiovisual products into a variety of communication tools and merge written objectives with still, video, and graphic imagery into a single product supporting public affairs and marketing messages. Ability to present subject matter information in a visual form to convey an intended message or to achieve a desired effect upon a specific audience. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization. Ability to communicate effectively in real-time, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with cultural accuracy to include conducting rapid briefings, crisis meetings, and stakeholder interviews with supervisors, employees, management officials, and contractor personnel. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
