Technical Architect

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned technical architect to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have 12–14 years of experience designing, implementing, and managing scalable enterprise solutions using Java, microservices, big data, and Databricks in the cloud. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of high-performance architectures, mentor development teams, and ensure best practices across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts and design patterns.
• Lead solution design sessions for Java-based microservices.
• Architect and implement big data solutions using Databricks, Hadoop, and Spark.
• Define technical roadmaps and oversee migrations to cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
• Establish coding standards and best practices, and conduct code reviews.
• Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor senior and junior engineers.
• Ensure system performance, scalability, and security requirements are met.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 12–14 years of professional experience in software development and architecture.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
• Proven experience designing and implementing microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.
• Proficiency with the Databricks platform for data engineering and analytics.
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS and Azure, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of enterprise architecture principles and patterns.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

• TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect, or Databricks certification.
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Flink.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Prior experience working in Abu Dhabi or the broader GCC region.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as Oracle and Cassandra.
• Knowledge of security standards and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and GDPR.
