Automation Engineer

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced automation engineer specializing in Emerson Ovation distributed control system (DCS) to join our team in Dammam. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain advanced control systems that optimize plant performance and ensure reliable operations.

Responsibilities:

Design, configure, and commission Ovation DCS solutions for new and existing plants

Develop control strategies, logic diagrams, and system architectures for process automation

Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize control system performance

Collaborate with instrumentation, electrical, and process engineering teams for system integration

Perform FAT, SAT, loop checks, and system validation testing

Provide technical support, training, and documentation for operations and maintenance personnel

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards throughout project lifecycle

Required qualifications:

5-7 years of experience in automation engineering with hands-on work on Ovation DCS

Strong technical expertise in distributed control systems and control system design

Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA integration, and industrial communication protocols

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation, control engineering or a related discipline

Experience with system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting in industrial environments

Knowledge of industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and relevant safety regulations

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree in control systems, automation, or related field

Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Control Systems Technician, PMP)

Experience in power generation, oil & gas, or petrochemical industries

Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for control systems

Exposure to additional automation platforms and network architectures
