Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play an important role in developing robust, high-quality mechanical solutions for our embedded AI hardware. As part of our international team, you will:

• Design and develop mechanical enclosures and internal layouts for electronic products.
• Apply thorough knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure seamless mechanical assembly, good thermal contact, and reliable manufacturing tolerances.
• Select and integrate thermal components such as heatsinks, fans, and thermal interface materials (TIM).
• Create detailed 3D-CAD models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for prototyping and production.
• Validate and optimize designs through practical testing, iterations, and continuous improvement.
• Lead design reviews and provide support for testing for certification, reliability, and protection against environmental influences.
• Contribute to sustainable product development by considering material selection, energy efficiency, and designing for longevity and recyclability.
• Collaborate directly with suppliers, especially during the prototyping process, to reach agreement on design manufacturability, material selection, and production processes.
• Work closely with electronics engineers, product designers, and international suppliers to ensure seamless integration of the complete system.
• A master's degree in mechanical engineering or product design or a similar field.
• At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within electronics, embedded systems, or industrial/consumer products.
• Experience with 3D-CAD software, such as Fusion 360, Onshape, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and best practices in Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Knowledge of electronics integration, designing according to IP and EMI requirements, and working with environmental constraints.
• You feel comfortable with laboratory testing and practical validation.
• A hands-on mentality and experience with prototyping and iterative design.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solution-oriented approach.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
