About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical and resourceful Market Affairs Associate to support ACA’s market information, trade analysis and market access/regulatory reporting work across Southeast Asia.

The Market Affairs Associate supports Agribusiness-Connect Asia’s market access, regulatory affairs and trade data activities across Southeast Asia.

The role provides regional support for monitoring market and policy developments, maintaining market affairs information and resources, conducting targeted research, and preparing materials to support regulatory and market access work.

The position will also support the collection, maintenance and analysis of trade data, helping the team better understand trade flows, market performance and emerging trends.

This is a developing role suited to someone who is organized, analytical and interested in building knowledge of market access, regulatory affairs and trade data analysis.

Reports to: Senior Manager, Southeast Asia

Functional/Dotted-line reporting: Regional Director

Market Access & Regulatory Affairs

  • Monitor relevant regional news, policy and industry developments related to food, agriculture and trade, with particular attention to developments that may affect market access.
  • Maintain market affairs trackers, stakeholder information, regulatory records, reference materials and other shared resources.
  • Conduct targeted research and information gathering to support country and regional market access and regulatory matters.
  • Support cross-market comparisons and compilation of information across Southeast Asian markets.
  • Support the preparation of market access and regulatory affairs materials, including briefing notes, presentations, background information and meeting materials.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of stakeholder meetings, industry engagements and other market affairs activities, including documenting relevant information and follow-up actions.
  • Support specific market access and regulatory projects as assigned.
  • Work with country teams to ensure relevant information and records are captured and maintained consistently.

Trade Data & Analysis

  • Extract and compile trade data from Trade Data Monitor (TDM) and other agreed data sources.
  • Maintain recurring trade datasets, reports and other data resources.
  • Check, organize and prepare trade data for analysis and reporting.
  • Produce tables, charts and other outputs showing trade flows, market share, product categories, major suppliers and other relevant indicators.
  • Conduct routine analysis to identify changes, patterns and trends in trade data.
  • Support ad hoc trade data requests and analysis for the regional team.
  • Develop the ability to interpret trade developments and explain what the data may indicate for markets, products and U.S. agricultural interests.
  • Over time, contribute to developing stronger trade insights by connecting data trends with relevant market, policy and industry developments.

Other Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with country teams and other regional colleagues on assigned projects and information requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized working files and documentation.
  • Support other market affairs activities as required, consistent with the scope and development of the role.

Role Development

The initial focus will be on building strong foundations in market affairs support and trade data management and analysis. As experience and capability develop, the role may take on greater analytical responsibility and contribute more directly to interpreting trade developments and supporting market access and regulatory work across the region.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as economics, international trade, business, agriculture, food science, public policy or international relations.
  • Preferably 1–3 years of relevant working experience; strong fresh graduates may also be considered.
  • Interest in international trade, food and agriculture, regulatory affairs, market access or economic and data analysis.
  • Comfortable working with quantitative information and datasets.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with trade databases, data visualization or analytical tools would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Strong written and spoken English.

Salary: S$3,500–S$4,500 per month, commensurate with qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated analytical skills.

WORKING HOURS: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
