Mechanical Design Engineer – Prototyping

Do you want to develop prototypes and test equipment for the vehicles of the future? Here, you will combine advanced mechanical design with practical production and cross-functional collaboration.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for a major player within the automotive industry in Göteborg. You will play a central role in the development of prototypes and test equipment, from early concepts to physical validation in close collaboration with design, production, and design.

About the role

Work with mechanical design in early and late concept phases. Develop prototypes and test equipment for technical and physical validation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and various prototyping environments. Contribute to solutions for future technology, material, and design needs.

What you will do

Create and further develop CAD models in CATIA V5. Design prototype tools and solutions for concept production. Plan design work, material flows, and deliveries together with the project team. Ensure traceability in design documentation and technical documentation. Provide technical support in prototype construction and production-related activities.

We are looking for someone who has

A university or MSc degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent education. At least five years of experience in prototype development and mechanical design. Very good knowledge of CATIA V5. A good understanding of materials and manufacturing methods for prototypes and test objects. The ability to coordinate work between multiple technical areas and stakeholders.

Technology & Tools

CATIA V5 for 3D modeling and design. Teamcenter Engineering for documentation and traceability. 3D-printing and additive manufacturing. Machining, composite laminating, sheet metal work, and injection molding.
