About the company

Created in Lyon in 2016 by three French entrepreneurs, Agicap is one of Europe's fastest-growing scale-ups, with over 8,000 clients, 600 employees, and rapid revenue growth (multiplied by 7 between 2021 and 2024). Agicap is part of the French Tech 120, which rewards the most promising startups in France.

Agicap enables finance departments of mid-sized companies to effectively manage and forecast their cash flow, pay their suppliers, and get paid. By combining a cash management system with accounts payable and accounts receivable management solutions on a single platform, Agicap aims to become the new benchmark in cash management for mid-sized companies.

We have raised 145 million euros since our creation, from prestigious venture capital funds such as AVP, Greenoaks, Partech, and BlackFin, with a recent round in November 2024.

These additional resources further fuel our product innovation, allowing us to grow significantly and accelerate our international expansion across the world.

We are convinced that our success lies in our passionate and dedicated teams, committed to building a company where everyone can evolve and build their career. We are constantly looking for new talent, aiming for excellence and ready to join our ambitious adventure!

👥The team you are joining You will join a team of 3 Data Engineers who collaborate daily with 4 Data Analysts and Pauline (Head of Data). You will be in direct contact with Kévin (Team Lead Data Engineering) and Pauline on a daily basis. The Data team is attached to the Revenue & Operations department.

The team in 3 words: tight-knit, pragmatic, technically demanding. We handle many strategic topics in parallel — that's why we are looking for a senior who can quickly find their feet and bring weight to architecture decisions.

Your tasks

Do you want to work on a Data Platform that feeds an entire fintech scale-up — from Marketing to Product, including Finance, Customer Success, and sales — and which is today at the heart of our AI-first transition? Do you have the perspective to maintain production systems AND the energy to build the semantic layer that will connect our data to AI?

At Agicap, the Data Platform meets the analytics needs (reporting, AI) and data synchronization needs serving the entire company. It relies on Google Cloud Platform (notably BigQuery and Composer), Airbyte, dbt, and Looker to maintain and distribute up-to-date, consolidated, and reliable data. 🔥 The project that changes everything: opening access to corporate data via AI through our MCP Analytics server. We have already laid the first bricks with Looker Explores governed by DAs — the logical next step is the extension to BigQuery coupled with a semantic layer. And that is where you come in.

💪 Your missions You will alternate between demanding run and structuring projects:

  • Maintain and ensure platform reliability: Composer (Airflow), Airbyte self-hosted on GKE, BigQuery, dbt, Terraform. A portion of your time will go to run (incident management, DA support), distributed within the DE team. You design and enrich tests, monitoring, and alerting — both technical and functional.
  • Industrialize data ingestion: collect sources via Airbyte (API or CDC depending on the case), manage schema evolution and BigQuery external tables.
  • Feed business tools: reverse-ETL and synchronizations between tools (HubSpot, Gainsight, Intercom…) or towards our PostgreSQL real-time database via our streaming architecture (webhooks → Pub/Sub → Cloud Run).
  • Extend the AI access layer: extend MCP Analytics towards BigQuery, build the semantic layer that conditions the quality of AI responses. The quality of modeling determines the quality of responses.
  • Master costs and security: BigQuery slot reservations in autoscaling, dynamic dbt build routing, monthly FinOps review, least privilege, management of personal and sensitive data, securing data access by AI.

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Engineering on a major Cloud Provider, with the responsibility of maintaining systems in production.
  • Advanced SQL + complex dbt models (incremental materialization, snapshots, macros) that you know how to debug (duplicates, late data, deletions, schema changes) and optimize (duration, cost).
  • Solid experience in ingestion and pipeline orchestration: debugging, schema drift, recovery, backfill, impact analysis.
  • High-quality Python, tested and mastered — maintainability and reliability at the heart of your practice.
  • Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD on a daily basis.
  • You work with a Coding Agent and you know how to take a step back to verify what it produces.
  • You are proactive, rigorous, humble, and you love mentoring: sharing your discoveries, explaining your choices to both technical and business teams, helping your colleagues progress.
  • You are comfortable in a partially full-remote team.
  • English B2 minimum.

A big plus

  • Experience with a semantic layer (dbt Semantic Layer / MetricFlow, LookML), on the GCP Knowledge Catalog (formerly Dataplex) or equivalent, or more broadly on data governance: cataloging, lineage, classification, policy tags, ownership.
  • Processing in event-driven architecture and its specificities (Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, scaling, rejections, retries).

A plus

  • GCP experience: BigQuery and its compute model via slot reservations, Composer, Cloud Run, GKE / Helm.
  • You have built tools for AI agents (MCP server, skills).
  • Integrations into business tools (HubSpot, Gainsight, Intercom).
  • Data pipelines in Change Data Capture.
  • Contribution to the Airbyte ecosystem.
