Job Title: French Transcriber & Translator

JOB SUMMARY

Afripinoy Entertainment Production is looking for a highly proficient, experienced, and detail-oriented French Transcriber & Translator to join our team on a full-time, regular basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating, transcribing, localizing, proofreading, editing, and quality-checking French-language content for the company's growing international audience.

The role will involve working with documentaries, video productions, educational materials, scripts, presentations, subtitles, captions, promotional content, voice-over scripts, and other media materials.

The ideal candidate should have native-level French proficiency, excellent English comprehension, at least three (3) years of relevant professional experience, and a strong understanding of French language, grammar, culture, and natural communication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Translation & Localization

• Translate company scripts, presentations, documentary materials, educational content, and other media from English or other source languages into accurate, natural, and culturally appropriate French.
• Localize content for French-speaking audiences while preserving the original meaning, message, tone, context, and intended impact.
• Adapt translated content so that it sounds natural and engaging to native French-speaking audiences rather than simply providing literal translations.
• Translate and adapt video titles, descriptions, captions, promotional copy, and other materials.
• Maintain consistency in French terminology, names, biblical references, technical terms, and company-specific language across projects.

Transcription & Subtitling

• Accurately transcribe spoken content from videos, documentaries, interviews, presentations, audio recordings, and other media.
• Translate and format transcripts for use in video and media production.
• Create, translate, synchronize, review, and edit French subtitles.
• Ensure subtitles accurately correspond with spoken dialogue and are properly timed and formatted.
• Review subtitles and captions for grammar, spelling, punctuation, readability, timing, and consistency.

Voice-Over & Audio Production

• Prepare French-language voice-over scripts from approved source materials.
• Review translated voice-over scripts to ensure natural flow, accurate meaning, appropriate terminology, and suitability for recording.
• Where required, assist with French-language voice-over production.
• Ensure voice-over scripts are clear, natural, professionally written, and suitable for the intended audience.

Proofreading & Quality Control

• Proofread and edit French-language scripts, subtitles, captions, promotional materials, and other content before publication.
• Review translations for grammar, spelling, terminology, tone, accuracy, consistency, and cultural appropriateness.
• Conduct final French-language quality-control checks before content is published.
• Identify and correct translation, transcription, subtitle, formatting, and language errors.
• Maintain consistent French language standards across all assigned projects.

Collaboration & Content Development

• Work closely with the CEO and production, editorial, creative, and media teams.
• Communicate clearly regarding assignments, deadlines, revisions, corrections, and production requirements.
• Provide language and localization recommendations when appropriate.
• Assist in French-language content planning and development.
• Identify opportunities to make the company's productions more accessible and appealing to French-speaking audiences.
• Support Afripinoy Entertainment Production's expansion into French-speaking markets.

Professional Responsibilities

• Meet agreed production deadlines and schedules.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding unpublished scripts, projects, business information, creative materials, and other company information.
• Maintain organized project files and language resources.
• Accept and implement reasonable editorial feedback and revisions.
• Perform other reasonable language, transcription, translation, editorial, and content-production duties assigned by the CEO or authorized management.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education

• Bachelor's degree in French (not mandatory), Translation, Linguistics, Languages, Communication, Journalism, Media, English, or a related field is preferred.
