Senior Media Relations Executive

A role focused on media relations, press office and PR — without the usual social media and content marketing mix.

It’s not often you find a role where you can really focus on what you do best. We’re working with a global B2B organisation that has grown significantly over the last decade, yet remains privately owned and family run. The owners take real pride in the business, know their people and genuinely care about the team. They’re still involved, but thankfully, they’re not the interfering type!

They’re now looking for an experienced media relations professional to join their in-house marketing team and play a key role in raising the profile and protecting the reputation of the business.

Please note: this is a fully office-based position.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Marketing Manager, you’ll take responsibility for developing and delivering media relations activity across a group of established businesses. It’s a varied role combining strategic input with hands-on PR delivery, giving you the opportunity to shape communications activity and build relationships with the media that matter.

You’ll develop proactive and reactive media plans, manage the press office and coordinate responses to media enquiries. You’ll also write and oversee a range of PR materials, including press releases, thought-leadership articles, technical features, case studies, business updates and award submissions.

Building strong relationships with journalists, editors and trade publications will be central to your success. You’ll identify stories from across the business, pitch compelling ideas to the media and secure quality coverage that enhances the organisation’s profile.

You’ll also monitor media coverage and competitor activity, identify potential reputational risks and support crisis communications when required. Working closely with colleagues across the business, you’ll ensure messaging remains consistent and PR activity supports wider business objectives.

About You

You’ll have solid experience in media relations or B2B PR, excellent copywriting skills and the confidence to manage media enquiries and develop communications plans.

You’ll understand the trade media landscape and ideally have established relationships with relevant journalists and editors. You’ll be proactive in finding stories, comfortable taking the initiative and able to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery.

Experience in the construction or electrical sectors would be advantageous, as would knowledge of crisis communications and reputation management. A degree in PR, journalism or communications would be useful, but relevant experience is what really counts.

The Opportunity

If you enjoy PR but are tired of roles where media relations gets squeezed between social media calendars, content plans and everything else, this could be a refreshing change.

You’ll be joining a successful international business that hasn’t lost its family-run feel, where people matter and you’ll have the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to its communications and reputation.
