Facilities Technician
Job Summary
The Facilities Technician ensures smooth operation, maintenance, and reliability of company facilities and equipment by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, coordinating repairs, and supporting a safe, efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure facility functionality
- Diagnose and resolve equipment and facility issues promptly to minimise operational disruptions
- Maintain and repair facility fixtures and infrastructure such as lighting, doors, windows, walls, ceilings, and flooring
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs in compliance with safety standards and regulations
- Maintain and calibrate facility-related equipment to ensure operational accuracy
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate with external vendors or service providers for repairs
- Support initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
- Follow workplace safety procedures and comply with regulatory requirements to maintain a safe environment
- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Participate in emergency response activities, safety drills, and incident management to ensure preparedness
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repair works for operational and audit purposes
- Update maintenance logs and prepare reports to support operational requirements
- Collaborate with Facilities, Operations, EHS, and other internal departments to coordinate maintenance activities efficiently
- Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely maintenance and repairs
- Provide timely updates and communicate maintenance status effectively to stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve facility efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and cost effectiveness
- Stay updated on industry developments and best practices in facility management to drive continuous improvement
Required competencies and certifications
- NITEC or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of facilities maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication, coordination, and organisational skills demonstrated through effective stakeholder engagement and maintenance coordination
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively to maintenance issues under minimal supervision
- Comfortable interacting with vendors, suppliers, and external service providers to facilitate maintenance activities
- Preparedness to be on standby and return to the workplace within 2 hours during emergencies to ensure rapid response
