Manager, Occupational Health and Safety · Objective:

Administer, supervise, and implement Occupational Health and Safety programs that comply with the policies and guidelines set by Mexican government agencies, the company, and corporate.

Responsibilities

• Comply with and enforce the Corporate Environmental, Energy, Safety, and Occupational Health Policy.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Mexican, Federal, State, and Municipal Laws, Regulations, and Official Standards regarding Occupational Health and Safety, as well as Corporate policies and applicable International Treaties.
• Ensure compliance with Corporate Objectives and Goals regarding Occupational Health and Safety. Contribute.
• Ensure compliance with internal requirements established by Corporate.
• Contribute to the effectiveness of the Energy, Environment, Health, and Safety Management System, including the achievement of EMASS Objectives and Goals.
• Comply with the Occupational Health monitoring plan and verify that applicable medical surveillance is carried out according to the results.
• Follow-up and closure of actions from ergonomic studies.
• Authorization of chemical substances.
• Food safety audits.
• Ensure that the identification list of regulatory compliance requirements is up to date.
• Compliance with out-of-range parameters in Industrial Hygiene study results.
• Incident management and lessons learned. Establish an accident prevention plan and coordinate the investigation team when any occur.
• Implement an accident prevention program for the assigned plant, taking into account the risks inherent to the manufacturing processes corresponding to the plant under your charge.
• Report results in the internal OHS Metrics System; include recordable and non-recordable accidents in the internal system, Safety Scorecard, project review requests, and other OHS systems.
• Ensure attention and follow-up to results of Inspections by Government Authorities regarding OHS, when they occur.
• Verify the effectiveness of actions implemented resulting from Non-Conformities registered in the internal system.
• Ensure that the Plant performs the necessary activities for the maintenance of the ISO 45001 Certificate, as well as Certifications requested by Clients, Government Agencies, and Corporate OHS (includes new Certification requirements).
• Ensure that Occupational Health and Safety operational controls are efficient so that fatality risks related to them are maintained at insignificant levels.
• Management of Change Control for new projects (Management of Change), transfers, etc.
• Compliance with Safety Evaluations (New projects system, Operational Risk Analysis).
• Follow-up on Occupational Health and Safety compliance for external service areas (transportation, industrial cafeterias, contractors, etc.).
• Coordination of Plant Medical Services.

Required Profile

Education and Experience:

• Internal collaborator: at least 1 year in current position.
• Bachelor's degree in the area of Environment, Occupational Health, and Safety (Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Medical, Environmental, Industrial) or related.
• 3 to 5 years of Experience in the Environment, Occupational Health, and Safety Area in manufacturing companies.

Required skills and knowledge:

• National Environment, Health, and Safety Legislation.
• ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 Standards.
• Computer packages.
• Fluent conversational business English.
• Personnel management with demonstrable managerial skills.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through effective communication.
• Analysis and decision making.
• Leadership.
• Experience in manufacturing plants.
• Emergency response program, fire systems, Continuous Improvement, Industrial Safety Committees.
• Electrical Safety.
• Construction work, knowledge in metalworking, food safety: desirable.
• Knowledge of ISO 50001:2018, PASST.

Competencies

• Root Cause Analysis in Incident and Non-Conformity Investigation (8Ds).
• Competent in Hazard and Risk Identification.
• Facilitator in Occupational Health and Safety topics.
• Sense of urgency / prioritization.
• Lead Auditor and/or internal auditor in ISO 45001.
• Legal Requirements monitoring.
