BIM Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled BIM Mechanical Engineer to develop, coordinate, and maintain Building Information Modeling (BIM) models for mechanical systems across various MEP projects. The role will be responsible for producing accurate BIM models and coordinated shop drawings while ensuring compliance with project requirements, design standards, and BIM execution procedures. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services and hands-on experience with Revit MEP , BIM coordination, and multidisciplinary projects. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed Mechanical BIM models using Autodesk Revit MEP.
Prepare and update mechanical layouts, shop drawings, and detailed BIM models based on approved design drawings and project requirements.
Model mechanical systems including: HVAC systems
Chilled Water systems
Ductwork
Plumbing and Drainage systems
Fire Fighting systems
Mechanical Equipment and related services
Coordinate mechanical models with Architecture, Structural, Electrical, and other MEP disciplines .
Identify and resolve clashes using Navisworks Manage and other BIM coordination tools.
Participate in BIM coordination meetings and technical workshops.
Review project drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or design conflicts.
Ensure BIM models comply with project BIM standards, naming conventions, LOD requirements, and BEP requirements.
Produce accurate plans, sections, elevations, schedules, and quantity information from BIM models.
Update models based on design changes, RFIs, site conditions, and approved technical instructions.
Support the preparation of As-Built BIM models and project handover documentation.
Coordinate with Design, Engineering, Site, and Project teams to ensure model accuracy and constructability.
Assist in extracting quantities and model-based information when required.
Maintain proper model version control and ensure timely submission of BIM deliverables.
Perform quality checks on BIM models and ensure compliance with company and project standards.
Support the BIM Manager/BIM Coordinator in implementing BIM workflows and improving modeling standards.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
2–5 years of relevant experience in Mechanical BIM / MEP projects.
Strong hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit MEP .
Good knowledge of mechanical building services and MEP systems.
Experience with Navisworks Manage and BIM coordination.
Good understanding of multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and/or fire protection systems.
Good understanding of BIM standards, LOD, BEP, and model coordination processes.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working on large-scale commercial, residential, hospitality, infrastructure, or industrial projects .
Experience in GCC / KSA / UAE projects .
Knowledge of AutoCAD .
Experience with Navisworks, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Revit families .
Knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IPC, and relevant local regulations .
BIM certification or relevant professional certification is an advantage.
Experience with Dynamo or other BIM automation tools is a plus.
