CNC Turner / Setter-Programmer Precision Engineering – CNC Turning Canvey Island, Essex Permanent Position We’re partnered with an established precision engineering business based in Canvey Island, supplying components across the automotive, agricultural and wider engineering sectors. Due to continued demand, they’re looking for an experienced CNC Turner / Setter-Programmer to join their established engineering team. This is a hands-on machining role for someone who can confidently set, programme and operate CNC turning centres and enjoys producing high-quality components from engineering drawings. You’ll be working with Mori Seiki CNC lathes and Fanuc controls, taking responsibility for machine set-up, programming, tooling, offsets and inspection.

The Role You’ll be responsible for setting and programming CNC turning machinery, producing components accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality throughout the manufacturing process. What You’ll Be Doing Setting, programming and operating Mori Seiki CNC lathes / turning centres Programming using Fanuc controls and G-code Reading and interpreting imperial and metric engineering drawings Carrying out machine set-ups and changeovers Selecting and setting tooling Adjusting tooling and offsets to maintain component quality Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections Using standard measuring and inspection equipment Monitoring machine performance and making adjustments where required Producing components to drawing specifications and tolerances Completing production and inspection documentation Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment Working efficiently to meet production requirements without compromising quality What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a CNC Turner, CNC Setter or CNC Setter-Programmer Strong experience setting and operating CNC turning centres Mori Seiki experience Good knowledge of Fanuc controls Ability to programme and set machines independently Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills Good understanding of tooling, offsets and machining processes Experience using inspection and measuring equipment Reliable, practical and quality-focused approach Experience within a precision engineering or subcontract manufacturing environment would be advantageous. Experience machining steel, cast iron and non-ferrous materials, as well as manual machining experience, would also be beneficial.
