Import/Export Specialist (m/f/d) (Operations Manager/in)

Summary

Do you want to manage international goods flows end-to-end while ensuring that documentation, customs, and compliance are always spot on? In this role, you will be responsible for the complete import and export processing, from booking to customs clearance, and will work closely with internal interfaces as well as external partners. Additionally, you will bring your experience in process optimization and projects to make workflows more efficient and digital. Description

• Processing of all import and export processes including documentation, booking, shipment tracking, and customs clearance
• Creation, checking, and management of international trade documents (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, export declarations)
• Ensuring compliance with international trade and customs regulations, Incoterms, as well as export control requirements (e.g., Dual Use, sanctions)
• Coordination of freight forwarders, carriers, brokers, and customs authorities to ensure timely and cost-efficient transport
• Proactive troubleshooting regarding shipping delays, customs holds, discrepancies, and complaints
• Maintenance of audit-proof records of import/export transactions as well as support for internal and external audits
• Collaboration with Purchasing, Finance, and Warehouse to optimize goods receipt/goods issue processes and inventory accuracy
• Optimization of transport costs (e.g., shipment consolidation) as well as evaluation of logistics partners based on performance and cost
• Participation in or leadership of projects for standardization and digitalization (e.g., EDI integration, customs automation, TMS extensions)

• Completed commercial or logistics-related training or a corresponding university degree (e.g., freight forwarding, foreign trade, Supply Chain, BWL)
• Several years of professional experience in import/export or international logistics
• Sound knowledge of Incoterms, customs procedures, export control, and international shipping documentation
• Experience in participating in or leading cross-functional projects
• Very good MS-Office skills; ERP experience (ideally SAP) is an advantage
• Fluent English skills
