Laboratory Assistant

Location: Longbenton, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 9BZ Rate: £13.30 - £14.44 ph Contract: Temporary Assignment Start Date: 5 October 2026 End Date: 30 June 2027 Hours: Full-time - 40 hours About the Role - We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to join a leading scientific team based at at the clients Centre in Longbenton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen interest in laboratory work, science, chemistry, or pro duct testing to gain hands-on experience within a fast-paced research and development environment. Working as part of the laboratory team, you will provide essential support in the preparation, testing, and analysis of products and formulations while ensuring high standards of laboratory practice and safety are maintained. Key Responsibilities Weighing products and preparing solutions for testing Preparing formulations and products for laboratory and consumer testing Conducting physical and chemical analysis of formulations and finished products Performing performance tests using established laboratory methods and procedures Recording, analysing, and communicating results using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Operating laboratory equipment and computer-controlled testing systems Supporting laboratory housekeeping activities and ensuring compliance with operating procedures Maintaining accurate records and documentation of test results Working safely with chemicals and laboratory materials, including enzymes where required About You The ideal candidate will demonstrate: A strong interest in laboratory, scientific, or technical work Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately Good organisational and time management skills Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel Strong communication skills, both written and verbal The ability to work independently and as part of a team Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not essential A science-related qualification would be advantageous What We Offer Opportunity to work within a world-renowned research environment Valuable hands-on laboratory experience Supportive and collaborative team culture Competitive pay and benefits Potential to develop scientific and technical skills within a leading global organisation If you are enthusiastic about science, enjoy practical laboratory work, and are looking to build your experience within a professional technical environment, we would love to hear from you.
