Community Centre Receptionist
(Evenings) Location: Reigate area, Surrey Hours: 23 hours per week (4:30PM - 9PM) Salary: £15,000 - £17,000 (Pro Ratad) Contract: Permanent, Part-Time

We're recruiting for a friendly and proactive Community Centre Receptionist to join a well-established community-focused organisation. This is a varied role that combines reception, facilities coordination, health & safety responsibilities and general building support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working independently and being at the heart of a busy centre.
This position would suit someone who is approachable, reliable and capable of confidently engaging with a wide range of people, including visitors, parents, hirers, contractors and community groups.
The Role
As the main point of contact during evening operations, you'll play a key role in ensuring the centre runs safely, efficiently and professionally. You'll take ownership of opening and closing procedures, provide support to visitors, maintain records and coordinate facilities-related tasks.
Key duties include:
- Opening and securing the building each day
- Welcoming visitors, parents, community groups and centre users
- Managing reception enquiries both face-to-face and over the phone
- Supporting room bookings and facility hire arrangements
- Coordinating building maintenance requests and liaising with facilities teams and contractors
- Completing health & safety, fire safety and building checks
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Monitoring first aid supplies and supporting with incidents when required
- Supporting food hygiene and kitchen compliance checks
- Preparing rooms for activities and ensuring facilities remain safe and presentable
- Acting as the responsible Duty Officer during evening operations
- Providing general administrative and operational support across the centre
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a reception, facilities, front-of-house or community-based environment
- Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Can work independently and use their own initiative
- Has strong communication and customer service skills
- Is confident dealing with a variety of people and situations
- Remains calm and professional under pressure
- Has good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Understands the importance of health & safety and safeguarding
- Is willing to undertake First Aid training (or already holds a qualification)
Desirable Experience
- Community centre, leisure centre or facilities experience
- Duty Manager or Duty Officer responsibilities
- First Aid qualification
- Fire Warden training
- Food Hygiene certification
- Experience working in environments supporting children, families or vulnerable individuals
