The Job

Description: Provide hands-on analytical and governance support to deliver a technology cost deep dive across agreed scope. The role will reconcile cost amounts, review CAM allocations, validate supporting documents and approvals, confirm costs are correctly charged, and establish a repeatable monthly cost review cadence with clear controls, MI, and action tracking.

Key responsibilities:

  • Technology cost deep dive (analysis & reconciliation): Analyze monthly technology costs and identify key movements, anomalies, and drivers. Reconcile cost amounts between finance reporting and source records; explain variances clearly.
  • CAM review and validation: Review CAM allocations and validate charging aligns to agreed allocation methodology and cost attribution rules. Trace costs to drivers (e.g., consumption, subscriptions, asset counts, usage metrics) and highlight gaps or inconsistencies. Log and drive remediation of incorrect mappings, duplicates, missing drivers, and outdated allocations with CAM owners.
  • Evidence, approvals, and charging validation : Collect and validate supporting documentation (e.g., invoices, POs, contracts/SOWs, consumption reports, approval evidence). Validate that approvals are in place and appropriate, and that costs are charged to the correct entity/cost centre/project.
  • Monthly cost review cadence, MI, and stakeholder management : Set up and run a monthly review cadence focused on charge validation and CAM governance (timetable, inputs, templates, actions tracker). Perform monthly checks to confirm costs are correctly coded/allocated, approvals are in place, and key variances/unexpected or duplicate charges are identified and challenged. Review and document any CAM changes (rules/drivers/mappings/scope), confirming rationale, approvals, and effective dates. Produce a concise monthly MI pack (validated cost position, key movements, CAM changes, risks/issues, actions) and drive actions to closure with stakeholders.

The Talent

  • Proven experience in cost management, performance management, finance control, or FP&A-style support—ideally in Technology and/or a regulated environment.
  • Strong reconciliation capability: tracing reported costs back to source documentation and explaining variances.
  • Experience working with allocation/chargeback concepts (CAM) and cost attribution.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables; PowerQuery desirable); ability to create clear trackers and controls.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with imperfect data.
  • Confident communicator—able to challenge constructively and drive closure across multiple stakeholders.
