Food Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and organised Food Laboratory Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the school's food laboratories. The role involves food preparation, inventory management, laboratory upkeep, and assisting teachers during practical sessions.

Key Responsibilities

• Order and prepare ingredients for Food & Nutrition practical lessons.
• Ensure ingredients are handled, stored, and prepared according to food safety practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the food laboratories, utensils, and equipment.
• Manage inventory and conduct stock-taking of ingredients, utensils, equipment, and learning resources.
• Support teachers during practical lessons and help ensure students adhere to safety guidelines.
• Process, verify, and file invoices, and track ingredient costs and expenditure.
• Perform other laboratory-related duties as assigned by the department and school leaders.

Requirements

• Minimum Primary 6 qualification.
• Able to communicate effectively in English.
• Basic mathematical skills, including recipe quantity calculations.
• Good knowledge of food ingredients and food preparation techniques.
• Possession of a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate will be advantageous.
• At least 1 year of experience in food preparation within a commercial kitchen, school kitchen, or training kitchen.
• Prior experience in a school-based food laboratory or kitchen environment will be an advantage.

Salary is negotiable and will be adjusted based on the candidate's relevant experience and track record in school settings.
