Application Operations Engineer 1-Year Contract Our client is a leading corporate and investment bank with a well-established Information Systems and Technology centre in Singapore. Technical Requirements Advanced hands-on capability in UNIX or Linux production environments , including system navigation, process analysis, log investigation, file systems, permissions, resource utilisation, networking commands, and production troubleshooting. Strong experience supporting enterprise applications in complex, business-critical production environments . Ability to diagnose application and infrastructure issues across multiple technical layers, including operating systems, application processes, batch jobs, interfaces, middleware dependencies, databases, and networks. Strong scripting and automation capability using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or UNIX Shell . Ability to develop, maintain, test, and troubleshoot operational scripts used for monitoring, deployment, workflow automation, housekeeping, recovery, and production support. Hands-on experience with at least one of the following technologies: AnsibleGitLabDockerKubernetes Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines , source control, automated deployment, release orchestration, and environment configuration. Experience implementing automation that improves production reliability, deployment consistency, operational efficiency, or recovery capability. Strong production troubleshooting capability, including:Incident diagnosis and service restorationRoot Cause AnalysisLog and error analysisPerformance and capacity investigationRecurring-issue eliminationProduction change validation Experience supporting complex operational activities such as:Disaster Recovery Planning and exercisesApplication or platform migrationsMajor production maintenanceRelease and deployment activitiesInfrastructure or application changes Understanding of enterprise application architecture, including application components, interfaces, dependencies, data flows, batch processing, and upstream or downstream systems. Practical knowledge of observability and monitoring concepts, including dashboards, metrics, alerts, logs, application performance, and service availability. Familiarity with one or more observability tools such as Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace . Familiarity with enterprise task scheduling tools such as Control-M or comparable workload automation platforms. Understanding of IT service-management practices, including Incident, Problem, Change, Release, and Service Request Management . Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and Lean practices within application-development and production-support environments. Ability to assess production risks, validate implementation plans, prepare recovery procedures, and support post-implementation verification. Ability to translate recurring operational issues into sustainable technical improvements through automation, monitoring, standardisation, or architectural change. Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, support procedures, and operational recovery instructions. This position supports global banking operations and requires participation in a rotating shift schedule as part of the team’s operational support coverage. Morning Shift: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM Evening Shift: 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM The role also includes participation in a scheduled on-call roster, which may include weekends and non-business hours.
