Data and Analytics Expert
Reports to: ADEC executive team
ABOUT THE ROLE
ADEC is a Kenya-based development consultancy working with government and development-partner clients across education, public-sector, and development engagements in Kenya and the region. We need a Data and Analytics Expert to turn fragmented education and workforce data into evidence our clients can plan with, across our portfolio of engagements.
Role purpose: Lead data analysis, integration, modelling, and analytical tools across ADEC's education, public-sector, and development engagements, strengthening how data like EMIS is used for planning across our client portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose EMIS and workforce datasets for quality, gaps, and consistency across engagements.
- Consolidate and triangulate data from EMIS, personnel records, and surveys.
- Build workforce supply-and-demand models and planning scenarios for client engagements.
- Design dashboards and analytical tools for government and development-partner decision-makers.
- Run data-quality checks across consolidation, analysis, and reporting.
- Train government and partner counterparts to run and maintain the tools.
- Write technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
REQUIRED
- Master's degree in statistics, data science, economics, education planning, or a related field.
- 5+ years in education data analytics, education planning, or workforce planning.
- Demonstrated experience integrating and triangulating multiple, incomplete datasets.
- Experience building analytical tools, models, or dashboards for decision-making.
- Experience with EMIS or comparable education information systems.
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
PREFERRED
- Experience with teacher workforce planning or education HR management.
- Experience in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
- Proficiency in R, Python, SQL, Stata, SPSS, Power BI, or Tableau.
