Project Engineering Manager – lead complex subsea projects from engineering to delivery
Your tasks
Do you thrive at the intersection of engineering, project management, and people – and are you motivated by making complex technical deliveries work together? We are now seeking a Project Engineering Manager (PEM) – Manifolds, Distribution and Connection Systems (MDC) for a strong international engineering environment at one of the world's leading players in subsea and energy technology in Stavanger.
This is a central role for you who wants to lead and coordinate engineering across several product areas within subsea. You will be responsible for creating structure, progress, and collaboration between different engineering teams – and ensuring that technical deliveries are executed on time, within cost, and with quality. Here, it is not just about understanding the technology. You must make people, plans, interfaces, and deliveries work together.
A key role in complex subsea projects As Project Engineering Manager, you will play a central role in the execution of projects within Manifolds, Distribution and Connection Systems.
You will coordinate engineering across several product lines and work with systems and products that may include, among others:
- Subsea manifolds
- PLEM and PLET
- Pig Launchers/Receivers
- Spools and jumpers
- Subsea connection systems
- Subsea Distribution Units (SDU)
- Umbilical Termination Assemblies (UTA)
- Umbilicals and associated distribution systems
You will be the link between the various engineering teams and will ensure that activities, technical interfaces, resources, and deliveries are coordinated throughout the project.
Your responsibility - As PEM, you will among other things:
- Coordinate engineering activities across structures, spools/jumpers, connection systems, and distribution systems
- Ensure that engineering deliveries are executed in accordance with the project's schedule, budget, and technical requirements
- Develop and follow up integrated engineering plans across several product areas
- Coordinate schedules, staffing, milestones, and technical deliveries
- Follow up progress, KPIs, and S-curves and identify deviations early
- Initiate and follow up corrective actions in case of deviations in progress or costs
- Follow up engineering budget, forecasts, resource needs, and efficiency
- Coordinate and approve necessary engineering capacity for the execution of the project
- Handle technical communication with the customer and ensure clear understanding of requirements and expectations
- Ensure good configuration control and management of technical changes
- Identify and follow up risks, opportunities, and changes in scope
- Collaborate closely with project management, systems engineering, production, and supply chain
- Ensure engineering support through the production phase – not just up to document delivery
- Lead and coordinate engineering teams and contribute to effective problem-solving across disciplines
The role involves a significant contact surface both internally and externally. You must therefore be comfortable communicating with everyone from specialists and engineering leads to project management, customers, and other key stakeholders.
Requirements
Who are we looking for? We are looking for you who has a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or another relevant technical field. Relevant and solid experience from project engineering or project management can also compensate for formal education. You preferably have experience from subsea, offshore, oil and gas, or other complex technical project environments. It is particularly interesting if you have:
- Experience as Project Engineering Manager, Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, Systems Engineer, or equivalent
- Experience with coordinating multidiscipline engineering teams
- Good understanding of complex technical systems and interfaces
- Experience with project planning and engineering schedules
- Understanding of cost control, forecasting, and resource planning
- Experience with following up progress, KPIs, and S-curves
- Experience with technical customer dialogue
- Ability to drive decisions and deliveries without necessarily having direct personnel responsibility
- Good commercial understanding combined with strong technical insight
- Very good communication and presentation skills in English
Direct experience with manifolds, connection systems, subsea distribution systems, spools, jumpers, PLEM, or PLET will be very relevant, but solid experience with engineering management from other complex offshore or technology projects can also be interesting.
You do not need to be the foremost specialist in every field. This is primarily a role for you who can see the big picture.
You must understand engineering well enough to challenge, prioritize, and make good decisions, but the role is largely about getting different professional environments to pull in the same direction. We are therefore looking for a person who creates structure in complex projects, communicates clearly, and maintains an overview when there are many parallel activities and interfaces. You take ownership, follow up on what has been agreed, and have the perseverance to drive matters all the way to a solution.
What we offer
Competitive terms The position is initially offered as a 12-month engagement, with great opportunities for extension thereafter.
Expected annual salary: approx. 1,060,000–1,300,000 NOK, depending on experience and competence.
Why could this be an interesting next step? You will have the opportunity to work with large and technically complex subsea deliveries at a global player, while also having a role with significant influence on how the engineering work is actually executed.
You will work across several product areas, build broad system understanding, and collaborate with strong professional environments within engineering, project management, production, and supply chain.
For the right candidate, this can be a very interesting opportunity to combine a technical background with engineering and project management at a high level.
How to apply
Relevant candidates are assessed continuously – apply quickly:-) We want to get in contact with relevant candidates quickly, and CVs will be assessed continuously. For candidates with the right background, the process can move fast. If you have experience from project engineering, engineering management, systems engineering, or technical project management – preferably combined with subsea/offshore – we therefore recommend that you submit your CV and application as soon as possible.
Do not wait for the application deadline if this role matches your profile.
This is an opportunity for you who wants more than just following up on individual deliveries – and who is motivated by making the entire engineering organization succeed around a complex subsea project. Contact Add Persona if you have questions regarding the position or the company.
