Senior Embedded Linux Platform Engineer

Assignment Description

A major international player within industrial technology solutions is seeking a senior consultant with deep expertise in Embedded Linux and Linux-based router platforms. The assignment involves contributing to the development of network functionality in embedded systems used in technically advanced environments.

The role involves close collaboration with development and hardware teams to ensure stable, secure, and high-performance solutions. The consultant will work both practically with implementation and contribute to technical decisions related to architecture, quality, and security in the software platform.

Examples of tasks:

Develop and maintain software components for systems based on Embedded Linux

Customize and configure Linux-based router platforms e.g., VyOS, OpenWrt or IPFire

Implement and integrate communication protocols for industrial and IoT-based connectivity

Collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to ensure functional system integration

Troubleshoot and analyze problems in Linux-based embedded systems

Contribute to improved quality, security, and automation in the development process

Requirements

Several years of experience in development within Embedded Linux and routers

Several years of experience in programming in C/C++ as well as scripting languages such as Shell or Python

Good understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, VPN and VLAN

Experience with Linux kernel and drivers

Experience with version control and modern development tools

Very good communicative ability in English

Experience with container technology and automated build and delivery pipelines

Experience from international development organizations

Accustomed to working in distributed teams
