Team Leader in Horeca M/F/X
An establishment located in the city center is looking for an experienced Crew Leader/Team Leader to coordinate the daily operations of its café in Bruxelles. This field leadership role combines team supervision, training, customer service, stock and supplier monitoring, cash controls, planning, and continuous improvement.
The Crew Leader works alongside the team while ensuring the efficient organization of the shifts assigned to them. The role requires practical experience in Horeca as well as the commercial, organizational, and human knowledge necessary to guide people, resources, and processes.
Your responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise the daily operations of the café during assigned shifts, while actively participating in service.
- Manage the team, distribute tasks, organize workflow, and ensure clear communication during busy periods.
- Perform and supervise opening and closing procedures, including operational preparation, stock and cash controls, and end-of-day routines.
- Train, onboard, and support team members regarding service, product preparation, hygiene, food safety, and internal procedures.
- Organize practical workshops to improve product knowledge, service quality, teamwork, and operational consistency.
- Support staff planning and schedule preparation in consultation with management.
- Supervise shift cash procedures, daily reconciliation, and tip administration in accordance with internal procedures, without general accounting responsibility.
- Maintain a high level of service and professionally handle customer questions, feedback, and complaints.
- Ensure compliance with operational, hygiene, food safety, and work procedures.
- Identify operational difficulties and propose practical improvements to workflow, service organization, and the customer experience.
- Communicate relevant operational issues, stock needs, team matters, and customer feedback to management.
- Contribute creative ideas to product presentation, events, training, and the customer experience.
- Prepare and serve coffee, drinks, juices, shakes, sandwiches, and other products when operational needs require it.
Required Profile
- Master's degree in International Business, business management, hotel management, operations management, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a café, Horeca, hospitality, operations, team coordination, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrable experience in shift coordination, supervising colleagues, or leading a team in a customer-facing environment.
- Ability to independently perform opening and closing procedures.
- Experience in training, coaching, or onboarding employees.
- Proficiency in stock control, inventory management, and operational supplier monitoring.
- Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent professional English, both oral and written.
- Basic conversational Dutch allowing for common interactions with Dutch-speaking customers and external contacts.
Availability for a flexible schedule including weekends and opening or closing shifts, in compliance with applicable rules.
- Ability to work calmly and with discernment in a dynamic, customer-facing environment.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, supplier relations, or demand planning.
- Experience in organizing events, workshops, or team activities.
- Experience in staff planning, cash reconciliation, or tip administration.
- Knowledge of French or other languages.
- Creativity and strong abilities in presentation and improving the customer experience.
