Mechanical Engineer
Must-have:QA/Test
Job Summary
Responsible for the installation, commissioning, calibration, preventive & correctivemaintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of Laser Routersystems, Mitutoyo precision metrology instruments, Plasma process/etchequipment, and Thermal Ovens. Ensures high equipment uptime, measurementaccuracy, process stability, personnel safety, and full compliance with qualitystandards and local safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities — ByEquipment Category
- Laser Router
- Install, align, commission, and perform safety interlock checks on laser routing / ablation / cutting systems.
- Execute preventive maintenance (optics inspection & cleaning, motion system calibration, chiller & exhaust servicing, laser power verification).
- Troubleshoot laser power loss, beam misalignment, positioning errors, motion faults, and control system alarms; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (8D / FMEA).
- Optimize machine parameters for cut quality, speed, and consistency; update SOPs and maintenance schedules.
- Maintain accurate service logs, PM records, and equipment history; liaise with vendor support for complex repairs or firmware upgrades.
- Mitutoyo PrecisionMetrology (CMM, Vision Systems, Measuring Tools)
- Perform periodic calibration, verification, and accreditation checks on Mitutoyo Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), vision & video measurement systems, and precision instruments.
- Conduct preventive maintenance: clean air bearings, inspect linear scales, calibrate probes & stylus systems, verify temperature/humidity environment controls.
- Troubleshoot measurement deviations, axis positioning errors, probe/vision recognition faults, and software/hardware communication issues.
- Issue calibration certificates with proper traceability; manage calibration schedules and due-date tracking; support internal & external audits.
- Train production/QA users on proper equipment operation, care, and basic checks to prevent misuse.
- Plasma Equipment (Etch/ Surface Treatment / Cleaning)
- Maintain plasma process systems: RF generator matching, chamber vacuum & pressure systems, gas delivery & mass-flow controllers, electrode & electrostatic chuck condition, temperature controls.
- Perform scheduled wet cleans, chamber parts replacement, and consumable servicing to minimize particle contamination and maintain process uniformity.
- Troubleshoot RF faults, vacuum leaks, chamber pressure instabilities, gas flow alarms, and process drift; execute root-cause analysis.
- Support process qualification, performance monitoring via SPC/FDC, and uptime/yield improvement projects.
- Thermal Ovens /Furnaces / Cure / Bake Systems
- Maintain temperature uniformity, ramp/soak profiles, airflow/pressure balance, and safety systems (overtemp protection, door interlocks)
- Calibrate temperature sensors, thermocouples, and recording instruments; validate thermal profiles across load zones.
- Perform preventive maintenance: heating elements, insulation, blower motors, filters, and exhaust systems; resolve temperature deviation, overshoot, or non-uniformity issues.
- Ensure thermal performance meets process specs; log thermal data and support audit requirements.
- Comply with fire safety and heated-equipment protocols per SCDF and WSH guidelines.
Qualifications &Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience maintaining at least two of the four equipment types listed; semiconductor / precision manufacturing background preferred.
- Familiarity with calibration standards (ISO 17025, ISO 9001), SPC, and basic troubleshooting methodologies (8D, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Competent in reading mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, and electrical schematics; proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of Singapore WSH, SEMI-S2, and cleanroom safety practices is highly valued.
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP/MES systems for work-order management and reporting.
- Shift readiness and occasional on-call support may be required for critical production environments.
