Your tasks
As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver individualised support, ensuring pupils feel safe, included and able to make progress at their own pace.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support during lessons and learning activities.
- Assist pupils with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD and learning difficulties.
- Adapt activities to support different learning styles and abilities.
- Encourage communication, social interaction and independent learning.
- Support positive behaviour and help pupils remain engaged in the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to monitor progress and meet individual targets.
Requirements
Are you a Psychology or Education graduate looking to gain practical experience in a specialist school? Do you want to help children with additional needs develop their confidence, independence and learning skills?
The ideal Specialist Teaching Assistant will be caring, patient and adaptable, with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn. Previous experience supporting children or young people is advantageous, although candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
This Specialist Teaching Assistant position is ideal for graduates interested in Psychology, Teaching, Speech and Language Therapy or Child Development, offering valuable experience in a specialist educational setting.
