A specialist school in Reading is seeking a dedicated Complex Needs Assistant to join its team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in special educational needs (SEN), healthcare, Psychology or education to gain valuable experience supporting pupils with a range of complex needs.

Your tasks
As a Complex Needs Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to provide tailored support, helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills and achieve their individual goals.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex learning and developmental needs.
- Assist with classroom activities, adapting support to meet individual requirements.
- Encourage communication, social interaction and independence.
- Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties and other additional needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
Requirements
Are you passionate about supporting children with complex additional needs? Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to pupils' development, wellbeing and independence?
The ideal Complex Needs Assistant will be patient, empathetic and proactive, with a genuine interest in helping children overcome barriers to learning. Previous experience in SEN schools, care, healthcare or support work is beneficial but not essential.
This Complex Needs Assistant role is particularly suited to Psychology, Education and Health and Social Care graduates seeking hands-on experience before pursuing careers in educational psychology, occupational therapy, teaching or healthcare.
