Assistant Caretaker

Hemel Hempstead Permanent | Full-Time | £27,000-£29,000 per annum

A well-established secondary school in Hemel Hempstead is looking for a reliable and practical Assistant Caretaker to join its premises team.

The successful candidate will help maintain a safe, secure and well-presented school environment, carrying out general maintenance, minor repairs and routine site checks.

Key Responsibilities

• General caretaking, maintenance and minor repairs.
• Regular checks of buildings, grounds and facilities.
• Supporting the opening and securing of the school site.
• Assisting contractors, deliveries and visitors.
• Supporting health and safety across the site.
• Helping with room and site preparation for events and activities.
• Reporting and responding to maintenance and security issues.

About You

We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, proactive and hardworking, with good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, facilities or a similar role is desirable, but practical experience and the right attitude are equally important.
