Do you want to be part of extending the lifespan of advanced analytical instruments used worldwide within the food and grain industry? Perten Instruments, part of the PerkinElmer group, is looking for a structured and responsible electronics engineer for its team in Hägersten.

About the position

In this role, you will hold a central position in the work of both further developing and future-proofing our product range. You will be responsible for driving technical improvements, managing component end-of-life (EOL), and ensuring that products meet relevant regulatory requirements. Our instruments are technically advanced, which places high demands on your expertise in electronics and your understanding of the interaction between hardware and software.

This is a practical and versatile role where you will work closely with the instruments in a lab environment. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in software development, mechanics, and product management to together create sustainable and innovative solutions.

Tasks

The focus lies on further developing and modernizing the existing product portfolio through improvements, maintenance, and lifecycle management. More specifically, you will:

  • Work with improvements, updates, and maintenance of existing products.
  • Develop and update electronic boards with both digital and analog components (e.g., carrier boards, DC-DC converters, motor drivers, AD converters, LED drivers).
  • Work with product care and lifecycle management – including managing component end-of-life (EOL).
  • Ensure that updated products meet applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs at the PCBA level using oscilloscopes, signal generators, and other test equipment.
  • Participate in verification and documentation prior to production.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in software, application, and product management.
  • Contribute with basic firmware development, with or without RTOS.

We are looking for you who have

  • A post-secondary education in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in PCBA design from idea to volume production.
  • Good knowledge of Altium Designer or similar eCAD tools.
  • Experience in hardware troubleshooting.
  • Ability to provide test and verification documents for production use.
  • Experience with communication protocols: SPI, I2C, USB, UART, DisplayPort, HDMI, Ethernet, SATA, MODBUS.
  • Basic understanding of EMC, ESD, and electrical safety standards.
  • Fluent in English.

It is a merit if you have

  • Experience with FPGA.
  • Experience in cable and connector selection.
  • Ability to collaborate, with a problem-solving and innovative mindset.
  • Ability to lead smaller projects.
  • Experience from larger organizations and the manufacturing industry.
  • Swedish language skills.

Personal qualities

To thrive and succeed in the role of Electronics Design Engineer with us, you need to be a person who takes responsibility and has a structured way of working. You are self-driven and used to driving your work forward without needing micro-management. At the same time, you are a team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines.

You have an eye for detail and the ability to see the big picture – from technical solutions to how they affect the product's lifecycle. You are curious, solution-oriented, and thrive in an environment where improvements and maintenance are the focus rather than new development. Your flexibility and willingness to take on varied tasks are crucial in our small but efficient team.
