About Us:
The Foundation comprises two schools: Abingdon School and Abingdon Prep School, as well as Abingdon School Enterprises. Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school with more than 1,000 pupils aged 11-18. Currently a boys’ school, it will become co-educational from September 2026.
Cleaning Supervisor - The Role:
You will supervise a team of cleaning staff across a designated area, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the school. You will manage cleaning schedules, provide feedback to staff, report on incidents and absences, and coordinate cover arrangements for holidays and special events. Your day-to-day work includes cleaning school areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, teaching areas and communal spaces using various equipment and products, alongside supervisory duties such as staff guidance, training needs identification and stock control.
Cleaning Supervisor - Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise cleaning staff and provide feedback to ensure high standards are achieved
- Implement and monitor work schedules and operational effectiveness
- Log and report accidents, sickness, absence and incidents to the Head of Housekeeping
- Coordinate cover arrangements for staff absences and special events
- Identify staff training needs and support staff with IT and email access
- Monitor, order and audit cleaning materials and stock control
- Carry out cleaning duties across multiple areas, surfaces and buildings to required standards
- Report maintenance defects and pupil welfare concerns appropriately
Cleaning Supervisor - You:
- Experience of undertaking general cleaning duties and supervisory responsibilities
- Punctual, reliable and flexible with strong time management and prioritisation skills
- Able to guide and motivate staff while listening to feedback
- Good communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and work with minimum supervision
- Good basic IT skills including email use
- Mental and physical fitness to carry out the duties of the post
