We are looking for a Specialist, Material Review to join our Material Review team. In this role, the specialist is responsible for conducting medical and regulatory review, and approving promotional and non-promotional material. Role: Perform high-quality review of all promotional and non-promotional material, in accordance with internal standard operating procedures, relevant industry codes, as well as external laws and regulations. The incumbent will also provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on medical review procedures, practice-related codes, and regulations. This position reports directly to the Manager, Material Review, within the Medical Excellence/Medical Operations department. Main responsibilities: In your assigned therapeutic areas, conduct the review of promotional and non-promotional material related to AbbVie products and related disease states. Review material to ensure the accuracy of medical and scientific information and its compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and internal requirements. Work closely with internal stakeholders.
Stay up to date with industry best practices, medical and regulatory requirements, ethical or practice-related codes, as well as information regarding pre-approval bodies. Provide advice on project feasibility, taking into account Canadian regulations regarding health product advertising. Support the production and presentation of reports on medical review indicators in the designated therapeutic areas.
Required training and experience: Degree in pharmacy or life sciences (e.g., pharmacology). Relevant experience paired with a solid knowledge of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry. Relevant previous experience and proven results in a similar position (at least two to three years). Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in the field of regulatory and medical affairs, particularly regarding the review of promotional and non-promotional material as well as product training, would be an asset.
Excellent knowledge of Canadian regulations concerning health product advertising. Essential skills and abilities: Tech-savviness is indispensable (use of different tools and systems to perform daily tasks). Practical knowledge of Veeva Vault or a similar review system is desirable.
Key leadership skills: Ability to engage in key actions and demonstrate the core behaviors that support all AbbVie leadership competencies. In-depth scientific and clinical knowledge. Excellent critical judgment and ability to learn quickly. Good teamwork, autonomy, and a proactive attitude. Effective negotiation techniques, diplomacy, and tact; excellent sense of ethics and integrity. Great ability to cope with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
