*Job Overview*

AB Academy is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Primary School Homeroom Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will teach students in *Junior Kindergarten through Grade 2*, creating a positive and engaging classroom environment that supports academic, social, and emotional growth.

Instruction is aligned with the *Ontario Curriculum* and emphasizes inquiry-based learning, foundational literacy and numeracy, creativity, and hands-on learning experiences. Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Ontario Curriculum for Junior Kindergarten through Grade 2.
• Foster students' literacy, numeracy, inquiry, and social-emotional development through developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and confidence.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with varying learning profiles.
• Assess, evaluate, and provide timely, constructive feedback on student progress.
• Integrate educational technology and hands-on learning experiences to enhance student engagement.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and school initiatives.
• Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and ongoing professional development.
• Support the mission, values, and educational philosophy of the school.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or eligibility for certification.
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum for the Primary Division (JK?Grade 2).
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience teaching young learners in Kindergarten and/or the Primary Division.
• Experience working with English Language Learners and students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and educational philosophy of the school.
