Job description:

We are looking for a local guide in Sodankylä to lead high-quality and individualized small group trips in the nature of Lapland.

The task is different from traditional guiding work. Trips are conducted for small groups, and the service emphasizes personalization, a calm presence, and an individual encounter with the customer. Trips take place both during the day and in the late evening and night.

During the trips, you will explore the nature of Lapland and the night sky, and move through winter terrain, for example, using snowshoes and skis. In night trips, the guide's role becomes particularly emphasized – for many customers, moving in the dark nature of Lapland is a unique but simultaneously exciting experience. We are looking for a person who creates a safe and trusting atmosphere in the situation.

As a guide, you are the customers' local expert and the storyteller of the trip. You know how to tell about nature, Lapland, and the surrounding landscape in an interesting and calm manner, and how to adapt the service according to the customers' wishes.

• Fluent English language skills
• A B-driver's license, which is essential for the task
• Good physical fitness and readiness to move in winter terrain
• Photography skills – photography is part of the trip experience and customer service
• Proficiency in Finnish and other languages is considered an advantage
• Previous guiding experience is considered an advantage, but above all, we value the right kind of personality and genuine interest in Lapland

Finnish nationality is not required for the position, but the nature of Lapland and the Finnish natural environment must be familiar to you.

Start: between approximately 15.11.–1.12.2026. The work continues during the winter season until spring, especially through February–March.
