Process Integration & R&D SME – AR Waveguides
Must-have:PythonLead
Key Responsibilities
Process Integration & Architecture
- Own the end-to-end process flow integration for AR waveguides, translating optical designs into robust, manufacturable nanofabrication process flows.
- Define process margins, design rules, and tolerance specifications across multi-step fabrication modules.
- Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for complex yield detractors, structural defects, and optical performance variations, implementing permanent corrective actions.
R&D & Process Development
- Drive R&D initiatives in advanced nanofabrication techniques, including nanoimprint lithography (NIL), electron-beam lithography (EBL), deep UV (DUV) lithography, and reactive ion etching (RIE/ICP).
- Evaluate and integrate high-refractive-index materials (substrates, resins, and inorganic coatings) to optimize optical efficiency and field-of-view (FoV).
- Design and execute structured Experiments (DoE) to optimize critical dimensions (CD), slant angles, grating profiles, and surface roughness.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Strategy
- Collaborate closely with Optical Design, Metrology, and Product teams to ensure process capabilities align with product requirements.
- Partner with external vendors, foundries, and equipment manufacturers to evaluate next-generation tooling and facilitate seamless technology transfers (lab-to-fab).
- Establish the technical roadmap for next-generation AR display hardware, staying ahead of industry trends and intellectual property (IP) landscapes.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical/Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in semiconductor, MEMS, or photonics processing, including 3+ years in AR waveguide fabrication.
- Proven experience taking optical/nanostructured components from R&D to pilot production.
- Strong expertise in DOE/SRG/VHG fabrication, including NIL, thin-film deposition (ALD/PVD/CVD), dry etching, and precision wafer handling.
- Familiarity with AFM, SEM, TEM, ellipsometry, scatterometry, and optical metrology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with JMP, MATLAB, or Python.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in reflective/geometric waveguide fabrication, including dicing, coating, and micro-mirror assembly.
- Network with AR/VR equipment and material suppliers.
- Experience with automated defect inspection, inline metrology, and high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
