Senior Scientist, Remanufacturing Process Technology, ARTC

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our Advanced E-beam and Arc Joining Team at ARTC’s Remanufacturing Process Technology Group.  The successful candidate will drive and support the development of advanced processes, with a focus on Electron Beam Welding, Laser Welding, and Additive Manufacturing for industrial applications in sectors such as aerospace, energy, maritime, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing. Responsibilities Develop and optimize electron beam welding, laser welding, and additive manufacturing processes. Lead and contribute to industry-driven R&D projects. Investigate process impact on weld quality, defects, microstructure, and mechanical performance. Develop welding procedures, process qualification methodologies, and best practices. Support process monitoring, automation, and digital manufacturing initiatives. Mentor junior researchers and contribute to capability development. Requirements PhD in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant industrial and/or research experience in electron beam welding, laser welding, and/or laser-arc hybrid welding. Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, materials characterization, and process development. Hands-on experimental mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and technical writing abilities. Any other ad-hoc work for the team, Group, Organisation and A*STAR with possible secondary roles. Preferred Experience with aerospace, energy, maritime, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing applications. Experience with process monitoring, robotics, automation, data analytics, or digital manufacturing technologies. Track record of industrial project delivery and technology deployment.
