Senior Systems Hardware Engineer to global company
Our client is a global technology company within power transmission and electrification. The organization designs, builds, and upgrades high-voltage transmission installations that move electricity across regions and countries, and its technology is a key enabler of the ongoing energy transition. The site in Ludvika is one of the company's main engineering centres in Sweden, with a large international engineering community and a strong technical tradition. About HVDC Service The HVDC Service organisation works with upgrades, service and warranty support for HVDC installations already in operation around the world. Since these installations have a lifespan of around many years and are upgraded regularly, this is a long, ongoing pipeline of brownfield engineering work. About the role We are looking for a Senior Systems Hardware Engineer to join our clients engineering organization supporting HVDC, transmission, grid modernization and substation projects.
In this role you will contribute to hardware engineering, system design, technical evaluations and engineering coordination throughout the project lifecycle. The role offers the opportunity to work on critical energy infrastructure projects supporting the transition towards a more sustainable, reliable and resilient power system.
We are looking for a profile with experience in transmission and distribution systems, substations, hardware engineering, renewable energy integration, battery energy storage systems (BESS), utility environments or other power system applications.
A minimum of 8 years of experience in hardware engineering, system design, transmission and distribution, utility engineering or related energy infrastructure projects is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review Plant Circuit Diagrams and related engineering documentation.
- Perform hardware selection activities for control, protection and auxiliary systems.
- Develop cubicle designs and associated hardware engineering deliverables.
- Support engineering teams in HVDC, substation and grid infrastructure projects.
- Perform technical studies, system assessments and engineering evaluations.
- Coordinate technical activities across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support project execution, planning and stakeholder coordination activities.
- Contribute to technical specifications, project documentation and engineering deliverables.
- Support customer discussions, technical workshops and engineering reviews.
- Participate in risk assessments and technical reviews throughout project execution.
Background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with hardware engineering and system design activities for substations, HVDC, FACTS or grid infrastructure projects.
- Experience developing Plant Circuit Diagrams and other hardware engineering documentation.
- Experience with hardware selection and cubicle design activities.
- Experience working with transmission and distribution networks or substations.
- Understanding of power system planning, grid integration and energy infrastructure development.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
- Fluent English is required. Swedish is considered an advantage.
Meritorious
- Experience from battery energy storage systems (BESS) and energy storage integration projects.
- Experience working with regulatory frameworks, permitting processes, grid codes or utility compliance requirements.
- Experience from HVDC, FACTS or STATCOM projects.
- Experience from renewable energy integration projects.
- Experience coordinating engineering activities or technical work packages.
- Experience working with utilities, transmission operators or grid owners.
- Project Management certification or formal project management experience.
- Experience working in international project environments.
- Willingness to learn Swedish and engage with the local working environment.
Other Location : Presence in Ludvika is mandatory.
