SCADA and Control Systems Engineer to a global company in Ludvika
Our client is a global technology company within power transmission and electrification. The organization designs, builds, and upgrades high-voltage transmission installations that move electricity across regions and countries, and its technology is a key enabler of the ongoing energy transition. The site in Ludvika is one of the company's main engineering centres in Sweden, with a large international engineering community and a strong technical tradition. About HVDC Service The HVDC Service organisation works with upgrades, service and warranty support for HVDC installations already in operation around the world. Since these installations have a lifespan of around many years and are upgraded regularly, this is a long, ongoing pipeline of brownfield engineering work.
About the role We are looking for a SCADA and Control Systems Engineer to join our clients engineering organization supporting HVDC, substation automation and power system projects. In this role you will contribute to the design, implementation and integration of SCADA, control and monitoring systems used in critical power infrastructure.
We are looking for a profile with experience in SCADA systems, industrial communication networks and control system integration. Experience from power systems, STATCOM, utility environments, substations, renewable energy applications or industrial automation is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Support engineering teams in the design, configuration and testing of SCADA and monitoring systems.
- Provide technical guidance and coordinate activities within smaller engineering teams when required.
- Configure and integrate control system components, RTUs and communication interfaces.
- Participate in the development and implementation of HMI and visualization solutions.
- Support customer discussions regarding control systems, monitoring solutions and industrial communications.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting and commissioning activities.
- Contribute to technical documentation, validation and system verification activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project execution.
Background
- Experience working with SCADA systems and industrial automation - a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in SCADA, industrial automation or power system control applications is required.
- Experience with control systems, RTUs, data acquisition and monitoring solutions.
- Knowledge of PLC/HMI applications and industrial control systems.
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, OPC UA, Profinet or Ethernet/IP.
- Experience with system integration, communication networks and industrial infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or equivalent.
- Fluent English is required. Swedish is considered an advantage.
Meritorious
- Experience from power utilities, substations, power generation, renewable energy or other critical infrastructure environments.
- Experience with modern SCADA platforms and HMI development.
- Experience with RTACs, gateways, protection and control systems or substation automation solutions.
- Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity principles and secure communication architectures.
- Experience with commissioning and field support activities.
- Experience working in international project environments.
- Willingness to learn Swedish and engage with the local working environment.
