Senior Residential Support Worker - Children's Home
Winkfield, Berkshire £14.60 per hour Full-time, permanent | 40 hours per week
1Four1 Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential home in Winkfield.
This is a hands-on senior role for someone already working within residential childcare who is confident leading shifts, supporting less experienced staff and maintaining high standards of care and safeguarding.
You’ll work closely with the Deputy and Registered Manager while remaining directly involved in supporting the children and young people within the home.
The role
You’ll take responsibility for leading shifts and helping ensure the home runs safely and consistently.
You’ll also provide guidance to Residential Support Workers and support the management team with the day-to-day operation of the home.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and coordinate shifts within the home
- Provide guidance and support to Residential Support Workers
- Support children and young people with their day-to-day care and emotional needs
- Promote independence, resilience and positive outcomes
- Support care plans, risk assessments and behaviour plans
- Maintain accurate daily records, incident reports and safeguarding documentation
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and behavioural incidents
- Support staff inductions, mentoring and development
- Work alongside social workers, therapists, education providers and other professionals
- Support therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches within the home
- Administer and record medication in line with procedures
- Act as the responsible person in charge when managers are unavailable, where required
What we're looking for
Essential
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Previous experience working within children’s residential care
- Previous experience in a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader or shift-leading role
- Experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural or trauma-related needs
- Good understanding of safeguarding
- Confidence managing behaviours that challenge
- Ability to lead shifts and support other members of staff
- Good written and verbal communication
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
Desirable
- Level 4 or Level 5 leadership qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Behaviour management training such as Team Teach or equivalent
