Residential Support Worker

Salary: £13.49 - £15.02 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

We are recruiting a Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential care service in Wrexham.

This is a permanent opportunity supporting children and young people within a residential home. You’ll be part of their everyday lives, helping provide the consistency, boundaries and support they need to feel safe and make progress.

You do not need to already hold a Level 3 qualification to be considered. If you have the right attitude, relevant experience and are willing to develop within residential childcare, we’d be keen to hear from you.

The role As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

• Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people.
• Build positive and professional relationships.
• Support young people with routines, education, activities and appointments.
• Help young people develop confidence, independence and practical life skills.
• Contribute to individual care plans and risk assessments.
• Complete daily records, handovers and care documentation.
• Support young people who may display challenging behaviour.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.
• Undertake key-working responsibilities when required.
• Prepare meals and help maintain a safe and comfortable home environment.
• Work closely with colleagues and other professionals.
• Complete sleep-in duties as part of the rota.

What we’re looking for You should be:

• Genuinely interested in working with children and young people.
• Calm, consistent and reliable.
• Able to build relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Comfortable supporting young people through challenging situations.
• A good communicator.
• Able to complete written care records to a good standard.
• Flexible around rota working, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.
• Willing to undertake training and work towards relevant qualifications.
• Previous experience within residential childcare, supported living, youth work, education, care or another relevant support setting would be useful.
• A Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People is desirable, but it is not essential for applicants who are prepared to work towards the qualification.
• Pay £13.49 per hour if you do not currently hold the relevant Level 3 qualification.
• £15.02 per hour if you already hold the relevant Level 3 qualification.
• The position is contracted to 40 hours per week .
