Deputy Manager - Children's Home

Leatherhead, Surrey From £38,000 per annum Full-time, permanent | 40 hours per week

1Four1 Recruitment is recruiting for a Deputy Manager to join an established children's residential home in Leatherhead.

This is a hands-on management role for someone who wants to stay involved with the young people while taking more responsibility for the leadership and day-to-day running of the home.

You'll work closely with the Registered Manager, with the role split roughly 50% management duties and 50% direct work within the home .

The role

You'll support the Registered Manager with the safe and effective running of the home, while providing visible leadership to the staff team.

You'll also deputise for the Registered Manager when required and help maintain high standards across safeguarding, care, staffing and regulatory compliance.

What you'll be doing

• Deputise for the Registered Manager and support the day-to-day running of the home.
• Lead, support and develop the residential staff team.
• Complete staff supervisions, appraisals and performance development.
• Help manage rotas, staffing levels, sickness and shift cover.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and risk management.
• Monitor care plans, risk assessments, incident reports and other regulatory records.
• Support the home with Ofsted requirements, audits and Regulation 44 visits.
• Promote PACE-informed and trauma-informed practice across the staff team.
• Work alongside therapists, social workers, schools and other professionals.
• Complete direct shifts within the home and remain actively involved in supporting the children.
• Participate in the management on-call rota.

What we're looking for

Essential

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory or senior role within children's residential care .
• Experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural or complex trauma needs.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and Children's Homes Regulations.
• Experience supervising and developing staff.
• Experience with care planning, risk assessments and regulatory documentation.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and Bank Holidays when required.

Desirable

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it.
• Experience working with PACE or other therapeutic approaches.
• Experience supporting Ofsted inspections and Regulation 44 monitoring.
